Hi I'm Shazza and welcome to Shazza's.

I am blessed with two wonderful children, Angel is 11 and my not so little man is aged 10 and has a severe form of epilepsy called SMEI (Severe Myoclonic Epilepsy of Infancy) also known as Dravet Syndrome, which for my little man includes symptoms of seizures, intellectual disabilities and physical disabilities. Shazza's is mainly about my little boy and how he deals with his disabilities but these issues affect the entire family and you'll find that reflected here. I have put in a short description of Dravet Syndrome here . In addition we have had tests back that suggest a dual diagnosis that includes ATR-X (Alpha Thalassemea, X Linked Mental Retardation). I'm not so convinced of this new diagnosis, but I have created a page dedicated to atr-x here .

You will also notice that I talk allot about a program called EDP - Early Development Program for children 0-5 with severe and/or multiple disabilities and their families. This is a South Australian based program. Learn more about EDP here .
